Embedding Tool — Easy, Accurate Implantation for Deferred Use

The Embedding Tool is an exclusive tool designed to embed (bury) the catheter at the time of implantation for retrieval and use at a later time. The Embedding Tool allows the actual implantation of the catheter to be planned and scheduled in anticipation of the need for PD.  Embedding the catheter simplifies long-range planning and scheduling giving you more CHOICES.

After the initial catheter implantation and after establishing catheter patency, you, the implanting physician, can embed the catheter using the Embedding Tool. The procedure is quick and efficient, adding only 5 – 6 minutes to the implantation procedure. The catheter can be retrieved (exteriorized) easily in the clinic or nephrologist’s office with a simple skin incision.  Typical length of time that that catheter is embedded: 3-6 weeks.  However, there are reports of catheters embedding for more than 9 months before retrieval.
