The laparoscopic variation of the Y-TEC System for Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Implantation is a two-puncture approach designed specifically for surgeons, with the patient typically under general anesthesia.  With the laparoscopic variation of the Y-TEC System, you use the hospital’s existing 5 mm or 10 mm diameter scope at the umbilicus or some other appropriate site. Insufflation is done by machine via the scope cannula or Verres needle.

Using the Y-TEC System with your own scope, in addition to having the abdominal visualization required for successful implantation, you can also take appropriate interventional action if necessary.  Adhesions can be lysed and/or an omentopexy can be performed.  In other words, almost always the patient’s abdomen can be prepared for optimum PD utilization.
