The Y-TEC System for Peritoneoscopic PD Catheter Impantation by Interventional Nephrologists

A fast, safe, cost-effective and yet simple method of PD Catheter Implantation - the Y-TEC System

The success of peritoneal dialysis depends primarily on the viability of the PD catheter, which in turn is contingent on successful implantation. The integrated Y-TEC System for PD catheter implantation enables you, the interventional nephrologists, to systematize catheter implantation by visualization, puncture, and dilation, significantly improving catheter longevity, reducing catheter complications, and lowering costs.

The Y-TEC System is composed of a set of reusable endoscopic instruments and a choice of two single-use catheter implantation pacs, all specifically designed for interventional nephrologists, in order to:

  • Implant peritoneal dialysis catheters easily, accurately, and with a very high degree of confidence and success.
  • Have an active part in peritoneal dialysis access for their patients.

The Y-TEC System for implantation of PD catheters is a well established  one-puncture approach designed for interventional nephrologists.

With the Y-TEC peritoneoscope and the Y-TEC implantation pac, the peritoneum is accessed with minimal trauma and discomfort to the patient.  With the patient having a mild sedative (conscious sedation) and local anesthesia, the nephrologist accesses the peritoneum via the Quill Guide Assembly.

The exclusive 2.2 mm peritoneoscope, in conjunction with the cannula of the Quill Guide Assembly, is used to locate the optimum position for the catheter and coil.  After viewing the abdomen, the scope and cannula are removed from the Quill Guide, which is then the conduit through which the catheter is implanted.

The Y-TEC System itself is composed of reusable instruments (2.2 mm diameter endoscope, fiberoptic light guide, sterilization tray, and a fiberoptic light source) and a choice of two disposable catheter implantation pacs.

Y-TEC PD Catheter Implantation Pac, Standard, Single Use

The VP-210-STD pac is the most frequently used PD catheter implantation kit. It contains the 5 critical tools used in the peritoneoscopic PD implanation procedure: the patented Quill Guide Assembly; small and large Dilators; the patented Cuff Implantor Tool; and the Tunnelor Tool.

The Y-TEC System for interventional nephrologists can be used to implant almost all PD catheters including Flex-Neck Classic Catheters and Flex-Neck ARC Catheters; coiled and straight catheters; Swan-Neck and conventional Tenckhoff catheters.  (The Toronto-Western and Missouri Swan-Neck catheters cannot be implanted with this technique.)
